There has never been a greater need to increase the skill sets within the UK Construction sector and encourage more people to make the construction sector a career of choice.
The aging UK population means more construction workers are reaching retirement age. According to RICS, the shortfall in the number of skilled construction workers in the UK is currently at its highest point since 2007 and it is estimated that more than 200,000 workers will need to be recruited.
Our vision is to be part of training the industry’s new entrants, as well as exisiting workers by offering outstanding training to elevate their skills to the highest standards.
With this in mind, CAB formed a Training Committee within the membership, whose objectives have been to: –
• Raise competency levels
• Develop standardisation of basic knowledge and best practice
• Ensure a consistency of CSCS Card Achievement
• Ensure those installing aluminium systems are qualified in their field
In partnership with CSCS and GQA Qualifications, the awarding body who specialise in qualifications for the Fenestration Industry, the CAB Training Committee has developed a route to gaining a CAB branded CSCS Q-card for curtain walling installers. An essential element of the process is CAB’s 1-day Curtain Walling Essential Knowledge Course.
