CAB Welcomes Phil

March 2021

CAB Welcomes Phil

A lot has been written about a Chief Executive and his first one hundred days in office. With the support of the CAB Board prior to joining CAB and the strong team that exists in CAB, the experience is so far very rewarding. I must say it is both a challenge and an honour to pick up the reigns from Justin Ratcliffe who left the Association last year. The team and I have some positive ideas as to what we can bring to CAB and I look forward to introducing these to you as we begin to see business get back to normal.

I am looking forward to meeting members and their guests at our first physical event in July, the CAB AGM & Annual Dinner. Since the last CAB meeting in October 2019 at the Imperial War Museum in Salford, a lot has happened within the Association and we have a great deal to offer to the Industry by way of business support. I am hopeful that the event can go ahead, as lockdown eases, as it is one of the highlights of the year for the Association

Whilst I try to get around to speaking with as many members as I can, if there is anything I can discuss with you in the meantime, I would be very pleased to hear from you.

CAB Launches AGM & Annual Dinner

CAB’s 27th Annual General Meeting and Dinner is to be held at the Carden Park Hotel, Near Chester on Thursday 1 July 2021, our first face-to-face event for some time. We are delighted to confirm our first three sponsors Schueco UK (Gold), Elumatec UK (Gold) and Alutrade (Bronze) plus for our Golf Hole sponsorship Commercial Windows & Doors have already signed up. There are further sponsorship opportunities available please contact julie.harley@c-a-b.org.uk.

We have had an excellent response to the launch of CAB 2021 Annual Dinner with 150 seats booked already.  Julie is now putting up the Limited Spaces sign, so please, if you wish to come along, book your places with Julie as soon as possible julie.harley@c-a-b.org.uk.

As members will be aware, the Government’s roadmap to relaxing Covid-19 restrictions indicates a lifting of all legal controls on 21 June 2021. If this deadline is met, our annual event will be able to proceed as normal and at this moment in time, we are planning to go ahead. Please note however that should there be an extension to restrictions which results in us having to cancel the event, we have worked hard with our venue to ensure that no charges will be levied to CAB or its members. On that basis, we hope that you will feel able to support this popular event.

This year we will be returning to Carden Park Hotel, near Chester, our venue in 2019. The hotel, which is located in a beautiful 900-acre site, is easily accessible from the M6, M56 and M53. It’s ongoing refurbishment programme includes a recently opened spa facility, with private garden, hot tubs and outdoor pools.

We look forward to welcoming our members and their guests to the event.

A Window Into Aluminium

Replacing ‘Aluminium in Architecture’ the new ezine ‘A Window Into Aluminium’ will offer a fresh new appearance to a wider readership and is aimed at supporting the supply chain for both Residential and Commercial Fenestration. It is due to be released later this month and CAB members will continue to get their company news published for free within the publication and receive reduced rates for advertising banners.

Please contact the following should you wish to appear in the next issue:

Justin Lazenby (Press Releases): justin@awindowintoaluminium.co.uk

Emma Champion (Banner Advertising): emma@awindowintoaluminium.co.uk

Initial circulation is expected to be in excess of 30,000 recipients from across the Home Improvement and Construction Industry and I do hope you will support the publication in making it a success and to spread the work of CAB members in support of Aluminium in the Fenestration Industry.

Building Our Skills

Building Our Skills (BOS) has recruited some of the industry’s top marketing agencies and trade publications to spread the love of Fenestration right through the sector and help shine a light on some of the fantastic career opportunities available to young and new people.

Throughout the whole of February, some of the industry’s more familiar marketers, editors and publishers have shared the reasons why they love fenestration on social media in the #lovefenestration campaign.

The aim behind the campaign is to help gain further recognition of the industry’s fantastic career opportunities and profile to more people why they should choose Fenestration when looking for a career.

Stephanie Tague, Head of BOS comments, ‘More is needed to spread the word of how great a sector Fenestration is to work in and to attract new people, in particular young people. #lovefenestration will be launched by some of the great marketing people of our industry during February and we want the whole industry to get behind it.’

#lovefenestration will be the first-of-its-kind marketing initiative, focusing on promoting the whole industry. It sets to create positive good vibes from people who love their jobs and have enjoyed a career in Fenestration, proving that it is a sector worth considering.

Further to the awareness campaign BOS have now secured funding through BEIS and the Midlands Energy Hub as a part of their submission for Building Our Skills to become a training provider for those on the Green Homes Voucher Scheme delivery programme. For further information of how to become involved please contact julie.harley@c-a-b.org.uk at the CAB offices.
