LEB Construction were contracted to carry out refurbishment work at Ysgol Pontrhydfendigaid in Ystrad Meurig, near Aberystwyth. The project involved creating new entrance screens into the main building and various classrooms to improve the school environment for the children.
The screens were to be comprised of a mix of low rise Kestrel Aluminium curtain walling with thermally broken commercial entrance doors and AluK 58BW casements inset within the curtain wall. Working closely with LEB Construction we met their required specifications across the products and frames and suggested alternatives for the glass in order to keep the build competitive. The entrance doors featured large pole handles for ease of use whilst the casements were fitted with restrictor hinges to minimise the openings and thereby lessen the chances of anyone running into the open vent. By incorporating the AluK AW625 dedicated curtain wall outerframe into the casement design the casements were glazed easily and effectively into the curtain wall structure to ensure a watertight seal and reduce installation time on site.
The project was one of a number of commercial projects that were estimated by Fentrade during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the order was placed during the phased return to work. With staffing levels not at full capacity and the raw materials supply chain experiencing difficulties due to the virus the project was still delivered on time to meet the contractors’ timescales, and the whole project handed over in line with the contract requirements.
As a manufacturer we pride ourselves on working closely with our customers whatever the size or nature of the project to ensure we deliver right first time on time, even with the current Covid-19 restrictions and increased safety measures in place!
