The Percy Gee Building at Leicester University has undergone an exciting £13.1 million transformation and expansion. In the main hub of the building, the ‘Campus Kitchen’, the walls and over-counter areas have been lined with Amron Welltec “wave” or “corrugated” profiled aluminium sheet. The designers envisaged not shiny metal, but the appearance of weathering and rust. ‘Firebox’ was chosen from Powdertech’s Aged Metal – Evolution/Rust collection and Powdertech coated 80m2. ‘Firebox’ gives a very natural rusted look with no two panels looking the same and no rusty residue which could mark clothing and other surfaces.
